Completely disagree. Please tell us how the careful acquisition of 2 (two) players spells “cap ceiling” and how is this bad to become better now. How is filling those roster holes and placing developing players in more advantageous positions with support a bad thing? - NC Flyers Fan
So Yesterday I purposed to trade Ghost for Buff or Trouba... Lets just say Trouba and resign him for 7 mil for 8 years. And I want to Sign Panarin. People gave me hell for Voracek for Grabner and 2 arizona firsts so instead lets say Glachenyuk. Lets figure the money out. Im guessing 11 for Panarin, 5 for Konecny, Laughton and Hartman get 2 each... just a bit more then Raffl imo. Provorov gets 6 and Talbot get 3.5. Forgot Sanheim lets say he gets 3. And trading Gudas of course.
Panarin 11-Couturier 4.3-Giroux 8.3
JVR 7-Galchenyuk 4.9-Konecny 5
Lindblom .9-Patrick .9-Frost .9
Raffl 1.6-Laughton 2-Hartman 2
Voroboyov .8
Provorov 6-Trouba 7
Morin .7-Sanheim 3
Hagg 1.1-Myers .7
AMac 5
Hart .7
Talbot 3.5
That puts us at 77.3 million plus 1 for Schlemko 78.3. We are supposed to have 83 million cap.
And IMO this is a Stanley cup contending team. |

What, about 5 days before we can announce the signing of Joel Q? |

Panarin At 11 mill no thanks
And Talbot At 3.5 would be flat out dumb
Can’t imagine getting 2 first fir Jake unless a huge cap dump coming as well with the deal |

Bill,
If you were given they reigns what would you be doing to move the Flyers into next year this offseason?
There seems to kind of be this debate of sit and wait and then also the lets make some moves now and push this forward.
Me I think you can do both but I do feel they need to start moving this thing forward. I think you can make some moves while not totally blowing up your cupboard of prospects or blowing up your cap.
but I do think there needs to be steps forward and I expect playoffs next season.
But just curious of how YOU would move thi s offseason and into next year. |

For Jake I would look at something like Carter got. Young player, 1st rounder, 3rd rounder.

Hard, hard pass for Galchenyuk.
Sanheim's cap will be much higher, IMHO.

@ Bacher, I would try and add Panarin this ofseason, anything under $11M (I'll take him at $11M if he will go 5 years). I also think our best bet would be to play out the first half of this year with a new coach (hopefully Q) and make decisions at the deadline on how we should shape this team. At this team there are too many unknowns with the young guys. If Patrick, Linblom, TK, and the younger D don't take a step forward we are much further than anyone thinks. |

That's basically what Fletcher is supposed to be doing this year. Evaluating the team as of now and deciding this offseason what to add. I don't want another repeat next season. |

Do you really think he has had enough time to gauge these young kids? Patrick is a huge question mark that could really lift us up or bring us down next year. If he can be a 20 goal 50 point 2C that would go a long way. Ghost has caused more questions than answers as well. |

IMO Galchenyuk and a 1st and 2nd from Arizona is a good get for Jake. You will have an evaluation year of him to see if he has a place on the team. Panarin will more then make up for Jake's numbers.
As for Sanheim this is year 2 for him... I think he gets a bridge deal that would make him harder for Portland to want to take if it comes to that. |

I agree with those who want to make moves in the offseason as opposed to waiting next season. You can't just hope everybody plays up to expectations. That's how they dug themselves an insurmountable hole and one man lost his job. |

People are forgetting we will have a goalie to start next season. I am on the Panarin train though. |

I agree that the money and spaces work. And obviously, I think the timing for action is now. I don’t know which players will actually fill the holes because it depends on the other willing party in trade. And variables in FA as well. I agree that we have the ability to make it happen without mortgaging the future. Prudent action and yes, we can contend. I just don’t have enough info to place a really good guess on the who’s. |

Likewise, but not at 11mil. |

As long as Giroux is the captain and leading this team along with Voracek expect the same results. |

I definitely don't see him signing for less than $10M/per. And since in general everyone gets overpaid in free agency & contracts always go up, I have a hard time believing Panarin wil be less than $11M/per.
Normally I am against bidding on the best available FA. But I feel differently about Panarin. It is very rare that a player of his caliber & age makes it to the open market. Is this perfect timing for the Flyers? No, probably not. Maybe a year too early. But I say go for it anyway. The timing is never going to be "perfect". Sure there's some risk with Panarin, and it could be a little tricky fitting him into the lineup. But I think his skill set is exactly what this roster has lacked in recent years. |

If you can acquire his talent you pull the trigger, his deal won't handcuff us. Adding him makes our top 6 one of the best in the league, Babcock even mentioned the other day that he was looking forward to our game due to the fact that our top 6 as constructed is one of better as constructed and would be a good test for his guys. Panarin makes us that much more dangerous and we could change up the PP. Have him and G run the low wall like Kusy and Backstrom, obviously on the flip side. |

So is Talbot really suing the Flyers for being "overworked " and "mismanaged "? |

I am mixed. I think Panarin would be a great add, especially as a guy to pair with Patrick and maybe help bring him along in development.
But not sure I want to go 11 million unless maybe i am moving out some money like Voracek. |

I like the idea of it, but I just don't think he's going to sign here. I guess we'll find out. |
